It seems that certain old CD-ROM device drivers can't handle the appearance of two points or certain special characters in the filename. In this case certain error messages will pop up, which won't have any negative influence on the software.

Fleischmann Tracks
Fleischmann tracks can have two different ctalogue numbers (especially turnouts). One number designates the turnout-PAIR and the other two numbers are defined for the single tracks. In Raily the pair number was ommitted, as not to confuse our customers.

Import RAILY 2.0 plansImport RAILY 1.0 plan
- If there are elements in the plan from the modules Fleischmann Piccolo or Street Solution: See Missing tracks
- If there are elements in the plan from modules, which have been changed by the user Solution: Copy the changed modules from the Raily 2.x folder to the Raily 3.0 folder
Load a RAILY 3.0 plan
- If there are elements in the plan from the modules Fleischmann Piccolo or Street Solution: See Missing tracks
- If there are elements in the plan from modules, which have been changed by the user Solution: Copy the changed modules from the Raily 1.x folder to the Raily 3.0 folder.
- Most probably the user has changed something in the module. Generally: A Raily plan can only be loaded, if all tracks (elements) are at the same place under the same name, as when the plan was saved. Additionally it is necessary that the connector numbers haven't changed. The first connector number must be the 0.

- RAILY 2.0 won't deinstall completely (it appears, as in all other products, too) Solution: The files in the Raily 2.x folder can be deleted manually with absolutely no risk, but ATTENTION: please copy your plans and the modules, which you have changed, to a save place.

How can I draw a table exactly? My pointing device can not set the points in this precision.
- It is written in the handbook, but: Under Plan Options choose Show Grid (ruler), then adapt the Grid Size and activate the point "Align to grid". Since the update dated from the 10.11.2000 you can draw rectangular tables by an additional number based input option.

When I cut a whole plan and insert it, it appears to be turned, even when the arc is shown as 0. This is the case, when connectors are free. The arc of this connector will then be set to 0 and the rest of the plan turns with it. Solutions:
- turn it back with the buttons K and L
- close first all connectors with a buffer, then cut and insert the plan.
- choose, if possible, a horizontal lying connector to insert the plan. see manual

I cannot seem to be able to print out of the 2-D view: I just get a totally black page with a little indent in the corner where I put the label. Printing the 3-D view is no problem.
- This is a problem with the grid settings. When you have set a fine grid (1 mm for example) and activated the option Show grid as points or Show grid as lines in the Grid settings box under the label Plan options, Raily will mathematically correct try to print all the lines, which then will cover all. The solution is to deactivate the grid.

How do I assign the layer to the activated tracks?
- We would like to excuse the obvious missing hint in the manual. The answer is that you activate first the tracks, then you do a right-click on one of the selected elements and choose the point Layers. There you can assign the elements to the desired layer.

Why does Raily change some numbers in the inventory?
- Please use for the separation a point and not a comma. Correct: $ 13.95; Wrong: $ 13,95

There are also measuring tools in Raily, which are unfortunately not explained in the manual. The explanation is as follows:
![]()
You activate the measuring tools by clicking on the crosshair-icon on the far left of the toolbar. You will get the following window:
![]()
With the upper icon you can add (by clicking afterwards on the desired spot in the plan) a measuring point in the plan. With the lower icon you can delete any measuring point. The first number shows the direct distance between the cursor and the measuring point. The first number in the bracket shows the x-distance and the second number the y-distance between the cursor and the measuring point. In the plan the above situation looks like this:

Why does the Update-Assistant stop working correctly after certain Windows 98 Updates?
The problem is that Windows saves under certain circumstances long filenames (module-/languagefiles) as 8.3 filenames, thereby changing the endings. Raily won't recognize therefore those files. The problem only appears in certain special "updated" Windows 98 systems. Unfortunately we cannot correct the Update-Assistant, as the Assistant works absolutely correct (officially by the Microsoft SDK). This means Windows is not working according to its own rules (we would like to thank Microsoft for this marvellous bug). Should the problem happen to you (symptoms etc. see below), please do not use the Update-Assistant anymore until Microsoft has published a patch or you have changed to another Windows operating system.
- Symptoms:
- Raily and the Update-Assistant are "speaking" a mess of German and English
- Under Options/Language you cannot select any languages.
- Reason:
- The file German.linfo and/or French.linfo and/or English.linfo has/have received a wrong ending by Windows and won't be found by Raily.
- Plan A:
- Backup your own plans and modules.
- Backup raily.exe.
- Delete the Raily folder, by using the Windows Explorer.
- Reinstall Raily from the original CD-ROM.
- After reinstallation copy raily.exe back to the Raily folder.
- Copy your own plans and modules back to the Raily folder.
- Download Module-Update from the homepage (see Modules).
- Plan B:
- Download the file lang.bat by clicking on the icon below. Copy it to the Raily folder and start it.

There are sometimes geometrical problems with the curved switches of certain manufacturers. They claim that they only used two different radii in the swith, but by entering the data, it becomes clear that these tracks possess special geometries. In real life it seems to fit quite comfortably as you have tolerances in your track systems.
We solved the problem, by entering two different geometries of the same track. Once the outer radius is correct and in the other track the exact inner radius was entered. By placing the correct tracks you can nevertheless rebuild the plans provided by the manufacturers.
The tracks are marked with a capitol R, when the outer Radius is correct and with a small r when the inner radius is correct.
Example: 22273L(R) outer radius is correct, 22273L(_r) inner radius is correct.
